About The Nursery

Our on-site 36 place school-led Nursery provides excellent care and education for children aged from two years.  The Nursery is led by Early Years teacher, Kim Brooks.  She works very closely with our Reception Class teachers, Laura Fox, Rachel Smith and Tonia Dudley, forming our very successful Foundation Stage teaching team.

Here is the current Broadclyst pdfNursery Application Form.

The Nursery delivers the first part of the Early Years Foundation Stage, which is continued through into the Reception class, providing progression matched to each child’s developmental stages from two to five years.

We are an inclusive and innovative school which endeavours to create an environment which fosters a love of learning and offers opportunities for children to work both collaboratively and independently to meet their full potential.  Our Nursery strives to provide a wide range of opportunities and experiences to encourage our youngest children to develop their natural curiosity and thinking skills.  In this way they will develop the foundations upon which they will continue to build throughout their school career and beyond.

The Nursery sessions run from:

9.00am to 12.00m
12.00pm to 3.00pm

The Nursery opens at 8.45am, for children to be dropped off, and closes at 3.30pm.  Children attending a morning session only need to be collected at 12.00pm.  Children attending an afternoon session, or all day, can be collected between 3.00pm and 3.30pm.  The extra time offered outside of the Nursery sessions is to allow you to discuss your child’s needs and progress with the Nursery staff and is not to be used as an extension of the sessions.  You will only be charged (if applicable) for your child’s attendance between 9.00am and 3.00pm.

Lunch times are part of the education of the children as they teach them key social skills.  We therefore allow for lunch to be eaten at the end of the morning sessions or at the beginning of the afternoon session, depending on your child’s session pattern.

Children attending a morning session only can have lunch at 11.30am or you may prefer your child to eat at home with you.  Children attending an afternoon session only can have lunch when they arrive at 12.00pm.  A school dinner can be order on the day at a cost of £2.20 either in the Nursery or by phoning the school office by 9.30am.  The current menu can be viewed on the school website (under the Parents’ tab) and we send out the next terms menu choices at the end of the previous term.  Alternatively your child can bring a packed lunch from home.

Our current hourly rates are:

£4.90 per hour for 2 year olds
£4.00 per hour for 3 and 4 year olds

These are charged for hours over and above Early Years Entitlement and 2Gether funding and for non-funded children.

You can check with www.gov.uk to see whether you are eligible to receive help with childcare costs, including the 2Gether scheme for 2 year olds.

Invoices for any unfunded hours are sent out at the beginning of every term.  Our preferred method of payment is online, using the ‘Wisepay’ system, which is accessible via the school’s website.  Alternatively you can pay by cheque (made payable to Broadclyst Primary Academy Trust) or cash at main reception.  We also accept employer’s childcare vouchers.

Further details on how to pay are available by contacting the school office.
