From nursery through to year 6 projects are planned that support and extend the topics within each class. Specialist art teachers are based in the on-site arts studio and work with class teachers to provide a rich and varied art and design curriculum. Pupils are encouraged to experiment and respond creatively to their own experiences, their imagination and observation of the world around them.
Through the school year the children will get the opportunity to experiment with different mediums and techniques such as clay and construction, painting and drawing, methods of printing and digital media. Within these mediums children will explore and develop their skills in visual elements of art and design.
We encourage children to evaluate their own ideas and methods, and the work of others, and say what they think and feel about them. Pupils will get the opportunity within lessons to work on their own and collaborate with others developing their own personal self-expression.
There are many enrichment opportunities for children to experience the art and design activities within different arts organisations and meet professional artists providing inspiration and ambition for all children.
Artsmark has been awarded to Broadclyst Community Primary School for its commitment to, and excellence in, arts and cultural education.
Artsmark status demonstrates that the arts provision at Broadclyst School is all inclusive for every child and young person and that the school values the arts and culture. Children from all across the school benefit from receiving a wide-ranging, adventurous and creative arts curriculum.
At Broadclyst we encourage the children to explore and discover different artists, and media to develop their own self-expression. We offer many opportunities for children to participate in drama, dance, art and music activities and promote students’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development.
