Early Years Teaching Assistant

The Cornerstone Academy Trust is responsible for Broadclyst Community Primary School and the recently opened Westclyst Community Primary School. This is an exciting time to join a growing team within the academy trust.

We are seeking to recruit a dedicated and professional Early Years Teaching Assistant. You will work alongside the class teachers to support children in all areas of the curriculum. You will also assist in the preparation of the learning environment, liaising with parents, maintaining pupil records and carrying out a range of administrative tasks. Relevant experience of working with children and qualifications are desirable (e.g. NVQ level 2 or equivalent or higher).

Required for September 2017, the post is fixed term until July 2018.

The working hours are 32.5 per week, starting at 8.30am, finishing 3.30pm, including 45 minutes daily lunch duty (with a 30-minute lunch break).

The position is term time only (40 weeks per annum)

The salary will be between £13,626 (£14,039 if over 25 years old) and £16,103 pro rata. This allows for progression within the role in line with our appraisal and professional development processes. The actual salary will be lower to reflect the hours per week and the weeks per year. There is an option of joining the local government pension scheme, benefitting from a cycle to work scheme and a health benefits package

2 x Catering Assistants

The Cornerstone Academy Trust is responsible for Broadclyst and Westclyst Community Primary Schools,

Based at Broadclyst, we are seeking to recruit two catering assistants to work alongside and report to our Chef. This is an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic catering team providing quality, home-cooked meals to children, staff and families every day.

The Catering Assistants will be involved in all areas of food preparation, cooking and kitchen hygiene processes, as well as a significant level of washing and clearing up duties to ensure the smooth running of a kitchen serving over 400 children and staff each day. They will need to be good communicators and team workers, demonstrated in their contact with staff and co-workers. 

Post one is a permanent position, ideally required as soon as possible (although we would be able to accommodate a September start) and is for 4 hours a day. The post will be between 15 to 20 hours a week, worked in a period between 11am to 3pm, Monday to Friday. Total hours and times of work to be agreed at interview. The position is term time only (38 weeks per annum) but in time the role could expand to cover for functions out of school hours including school holidays.

Post two is a fixed term position, to cover maternity leave and is required in September for 5 hours a day. Hours of work are from 9am to 2pm, Monday to Friday. The position is term time only (38 weeks per annum) but in time the role could expand to cover for functions out of school hours including school holidays.

For both posts there will be a 9-month probationary period. Ideally we are looking for someone with experience of catering.

The hourly rate for both posts is £7.05 (£7.50 if you are over 25 years of age).
