Young (BCPS) Rugby Stars Shine at Twickenham

This morning's article on the Radio Exe website about our weekend trip to play at Twickenham:

It was their reward for emerging triumphant from this season's Aviva Premiership Rugby Schools Programme Festival, which was run by the Chiefs Community department at schools across Devon and Cornwall.

Yr 3&4 Willowbrook Football Tournament

This term the year 3 & 4 football team played in a local football tournament at Willowbrook Primary School. The tournament consisted of four teams, with each game lasting eight minutes. Despite the recent good weather, the rain forced the competition to be held on the playground. This meant that the pitch and goal size were reduced considerably. Despite the challenging conditions, Broadclyst played very well as a team and dominated the majority of the possession in all three of their games. It was also the first time the team had played together. Overall, the team played competitively and fairly, and were very good representatives of the school. Well done!

The boys played very well putting in a great deal of effort. Although Devon came third, it was a close fixture. Ben and Craig both won games and Josh gave a good account of himself on a very high ranking board. The chess team has a number of matches coming up in the next few months.

Christmas Song Recordings

In the last weeks of term Mrs Pulfer recorded a number of songs in the recording studio with groups of children. Below are a selection of the songs involving the chamber choir, staff choir, as well as the whole school. The whole school version of 'All Join Hands' features every child in the school. It was also recorded on the last day of term and broadcast by BBC Spotlight on the Monday before Christmas. The blog post about when Spotlight came in and filmed both the whole school and the chamber choir can be found on the Head's Blog here.
