The Forest School is on a Tuesday from 3.30pm - 4.45pm with Miss Northcott and Mrs Williams. The children meet in 1ACM.
Forest School is an holistic approach to education, which aims to enable and develop each individual child according to their needs; addressing educational, emotional, spiritual, and physical aspects of learning. It aims to teach skills and develop confidence in an enjoyable and relaxed way. Forest School is child centred and leaders respond to the interests and ideas of each child.
Forest School develops peer learning, with the adults providing support and enabling activities. Forest school activities are “open ended” enabling all children to achieve. It aims to encourage children to take on new challenges, take risks, and persevere with difficulties.
This term we will be making pictures using woodland materials, building shelters for small animals, creating stories using story sticks, lighting fires and even cooking some damper bread and marshmallows.
