The recent introduction of free meals for all children in Reception, Year 1, and Year 2 has meant that the number of children eating a hot meal at lunchtime has increased. We are really pleased that the vast majority of parents have chosen a school dinner for their children, and we believe that a cooked dinner eaten in a nice dining environment, at a cost roughly equivalent to a packed lunch, is an amazing opportunity for our younger children.
Our electronic pre-ordering system means that children have their meal brought to their table at lunchtime, so they do not have to queue at a counter and can therefore spend more time socialising with their friends.
Our Dining Club club offers parents of children outside the KS1 free meal scheme the chance to purchase school dinners for their child at a vastly reduced rate, subject to signing up for meals every day of the week. If you have any questions see our dining FAQs
This system allows us to cook a full balanced menu of tasty 'home-cooked food' designed by our chef. Younger children love service at table, and this new system avoids a noisy room of possibly bored children waiting for their dinner. The concept is one of 'family dining' where older children will sit with younger children and help serve the food that has been brought to the table.
The School Food Plan is an agreed plan that has the support of government and diverse organisations who are supporting headteachers to improve food in their schools.
The film above is a short and informative animation about the benefits of school meals to all society.
We also have the Academy Café. It is a fresh, modern area for parents to meet towards the end of the school day or while children attend after-school activities. Attractions include delicious homemade cakes and 'bean to cup' coffee, and it is proving very popular. The Café is open every afternoon from 3pm.
