Supporting your child at home

Thank you to all of you that attended the ‘Supporting your child at home’ information evening. I was so pleased that so many parents came and hopefully you found it informative and enjoyable. We have had a number of positive comments following the evening and parents clearly feel that they are much more aware of what is taught in school and ways in which they can support their children at home.

I hope that you have been able to login from home to the Learning Gateway and also Accelerated Reader. You can enter an email address on Accelerated Reader to receive information about the quizzes that your children are taking on books read. You can download Microsoft Lync from the learning Gateway for your child to sign into at home to enable them to communicate with friends and teachers from home. The instructions on how to do this are on the main page of the Learning Gateway when you sign in. If you need any further assistance with any of the aspects discussed at the meeting please do contact the school.

We have now posted the PowerPoint presentation to the main web site www.bcps.org.uk under the 'Parents' tab.

If you were unable to attend the evening then please call in at the main reception where you will be able to sign up for your username and password and please do watch the PowerPoint presentation that was used on the evening. If you would like to know more in addition to this then please speak with your class teacher who would be pleased to spend time with you demonstrating how to access these services and support your child at home.

We have drawn 4 names from all those that attended on the night and the following parents were the winners of the prize draw:

• Office 2010: Karen Bowern

• Family ticket to Tropiquaria: Hayley Backway

• £40 school dinners: Maria Wheatcroft

• Webcam: Andrew Woods
