A football team from Year 5 and 6 represented the school in the latest set of Exeter Primary Football League fixtures at St Peter’s school on Monday 22nd January.
In the first fixture against St Nicholas the team started well and dominated possession throughout, although Fraser, Maddie and Joel in defence were required to make timely interceptions to ensure the score remained 0-0 at half time. During the second half the team’s patience was rewarded through a goal by Harry and they added a second goal through an own goal just before the final whistle to achieve a 2-0 win.
By kick-off for the second match against Newton St Cyres the team had warmed up to the chilly conditions and moved the ball quickly throughout as a team, going into the second half leading 4-0 thanks to two goals from Harry, with Ben and Fraser also scoring. Fraser’s goal was a driven shot from the half-way line, which he celebrated by asking if he could now be the team’s main striker! In the second half the team added 2 further goals with Nathan scoring a well-earnt finish before Harry sealed his hat-trick with an excellent strike into the top corner leaving the goalkeeper no chance. In the final minute Max ensured his clean sheet for the afternoon making an excellent fingertip save to ensure the final score was a comprehensive 6-0 victory.
