Your librarians have been busy preparing the new library at Westclyst. We can’t wait to move all of the books that have been chosen in collaboration with children and staff into their home.
We would like to say thank you to those families who have made book donations to us in recent weeks. We are happy to receive more donations to the library before the end of term.
Do feel free to ring the library directly to ask about the current loans on an account. Year 6 loans have been limited to one book at any time. Please look out any library books your child has before the end of term and return these. We have decided not to issue more books for summer until other loans have been returned as this enables us to review our stock.
The librarians are available to offer support to children submitting a story to the Jaqueline Wilson Creative Writing Competition. Please come along and tell us about your plans and show us any drafts you are working on. Miss Harding is in the library until 4.55pm every evening of the school week, so this would be an excellent time to workshop your story.
Very well done to our Word Millionaires and to all who have been working towards achieving their Bookworm Certificates. We always enjoy hearing about the books you have enjoyed and sharing shorter stories with you.
Thank you to all of our dedicated Junior Librarians and JL’s in training. You have become very skilled this term, and have learnt lots of new processes to do with running the library. It is clear that several of you will be able to apply to become Junior Librarians next year with proven experience.
We will be visiting classes over the next week to promote our local community libraries. Over the summer Devon Libraries are running a Reading Challenge. You will be given a mission folder with the target of finishing six books over the holiday. You can earn stickers to mark your progress and a medal when you finish. Remember to come and show us your mission folders and medals when you return to school in September.
We hope you have a wonderful holiday – keep reading over the break!
