Health Information from the School Nurse, Tracey;
In this week’s newsletter I would like to highlight the importance of effective handwashing, I have recently been into some of the reception classes with ‘Max’ the UV light machine that helps to detect effective handwashing, the children enjoyed learning how to wash their hands, for about 30 secs singing happy birthday twice, washing all areas of the hands, including the wrists.
We spoke about important times of the day to wash our hands, they are:
- After going to the toilet
- Before we eat/prepare food
- After handling animals
- After playing outside
- When they are visibly dirty.
- When we have a virus, cold/flu vomiting or diarrhoea we need to wash them more.
I also emphasised that we only need to wash our hands at this time and not become obsessive and over wash our hands!
These messages are important for all of us to remember to limit the spread of virus, especially at this time of the year when viruses are more prevalent.
