On Monday 27th January Year 3 pupils from Broadclyst and Westclyst, along with Year 4 Broadclyst pupils faced St Leonards in a boys’ football match; held for the first time on the pitch at Westclyst.
Despite the soggy conditions everyone involved was excited to be taking part and the matches were played in an excellent spirit throughout whilst retaining their competitive nature. Each team played two matches and also had a short practice session whilst they weren’t playing to work on their skills. Year 4 won both games playing at pace throughout and scoring a number of excellent finishes, including two from considerable distance. Westclyst Year 3 won their first game and were unfortunate to concede a goal late on in their second game. Broadclyst Year 3 gelled excellently, moving the ball quickly as a team and consequently scored a number of goals across their two matches.
Players from all 3 teams came off the pitches at the end rightly proud of their performances and already looking forward to future opportunities to represent their school in football.
