Cornerstone Library Update

The Library has been a hive of activity since the start of term - It’s been great to hear so many children recommending books to others that they have enjoyed or received recently! Here are a few of our latest book recommendations from some of our keen readers:

Winter has just returned ‘Stuck` by Oliver Jeffers, who also did the lovely illustrations. Winter enjoyed retelling the story and added that he particularly liked this book “because it’s funny and I like looking at the pictures”.

Louisa has just finished reading “The Weight of Water” by Sarah Crossman. She came and told us how much she enjoyed it explaining how the main character, Kasienka, “doesn’t get much attention at school” and how clearly the writing “got images into your mind”. The book is different from most novels because it tells the story, which is about immigration, through poems.

Year 3 recently finished reading ‘The Great Chocoplot` by Chris Callaghan in class. Isla appreciated the humour in the story and Ellie-Mae said she thought that “Jelly and her gran were quite brave to try and find out what had happened”. Both girls said they would recommend this book to others.

Congratulations to those who have recently earned Bookworm Certificates by reading aloud or retelling stories that they have read at home to a librarian. Certificates and prizes are given out in whole school assemblies.

We love hearing your recommendations for new books, so do let us know about anything you feel we should buy!
