Article by Cherelle and Amelia (Year 6)
On World Book Day 2020, we all dressed up as characters from different books - as normal!
The teachers put up quiz questions around the school about books that people might have read before. Depending on the year group, the teachers dressed up as groups of characters from different stories. Year 6 and Year 5 teachers dressed up as Harry Potter characters.
Outfits could be as basic or as crazy as we wanted - one of the children came in, in a blow-up T-rex outfit and another in a sumo wrestling outfit! We also had a World Book Day themed lunch which was Slytherin Spaghetti and Meatballs or Hufflepuff Potato Pie. Throughout the school we made Harry Potter potions.
In the morning, we had a World Book Day Assembly. We found out the winners of the 500 words competition for Broadclyst - very exciting! We run separate 500 competitions for Reception, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. We would like to congratulate Ailsa MacAllister, Eloise Sams and Grace Pointing - the overall winners, as well as everyone else who took part.
During World Book Week, we also made a whole school book which started with Nursery and eventually getting to Year 6. We look forward to sharing it!
